PURE General Manager Frank Dotson presents outgoing President Tim Allen (second from right) with a gift for his service as the chief executive of the Co-op, as Dennis Combs (second from left) and current President Davis Cosey (right) show their support.
Prior to passing the gavel to fellow Board Member Davis Cosey, PURE President Tim Allen gave his “State of the Cooperative” address to the Co-op membership during the annual Shareholders Meeting.
In his final address to the Co-op as President, Allen noted that although market conditions have changed, the Co-op has come a long way in 2010, with the highlight being the preparations that are being made to submit requests for proposals to potential suppliers. In order to do so, the PURE Board of Directors retained the services of Professional Energy Management to consult the Co-op throughout this process of transforming it from a “price taker to a price maker.”
The Co-op also has contracted with Orchestrated Fuels to provide a back office system and hired No Sky Solutions as an IT consultant as well.
“A special thanks goes out to Johnny Fair for his hard work in the back office system selection, as well as Craig Lynch, Davis Cosey, Dennis Combs, and others, who all were very involved in the process,” says Allen.
Combs has led the efforts of the Co-op to establish credit, which is necessary for it to be able to purchase (product/supply) as one entity on behalf of its members. The capital needs of the Co-op are expected to be much less than what was originally anticipated – good news for Co-op members making preparations to invest.
“Over the course of the next year, you will see a lot of improvements to the Co-op,” concluded Allen.
